Make Money With The Extras

Weddings are a once in a lifetime event. Use the emotion of the day to build up your business, and charge accordingly.

Consider these three simple techniques that will help you provide better end results to your customers, and ultimately put more money in your pocket.

1. Add products and services. Your customer can’t buy something that doesn’t exist. Create more options for them to increase their satisfaction level. And by offering several options, you are giving them choices. People love choices - but don't overwhelm them. Three choices is often the best.

2. Add time and volume options. Depending on the type of wedding services you offer, a great way to increase your sales is to offer more. Instead of photographing 4 hours at the event, allow them to choose 6 hours. Instead of providing them with a floral arrangement on the main tables at the reception, offer a package that allows arrangements to be placed on every table. If your customer upgrades to the next package, make sure they can see the value for upgrading.

3. Add combinations. Give your customer the opportunity to purchase combinations of products and services for a better value, with one convenient decision. It's harder to price shop a package. Add things in that are "impossible" to price shop, especially things outside your typical sale (i.e. higher quality table decorations for a caterer, frames for a photographer, and favours for a wedding planner).

The focus on all of these is the end result. Make it easy on the client. Focus on the end result, what the client desires from your business, and put together combinations that focus on that result.

You don’t buy toothpaste for the toothpaste. You buy it for fresh breath and healthy, whiter teeth.

It’s the same with wedding services. You purchase each service to accomplish a goal towards planning the perfect wedding. Market your products and services to provide the bride to be with the end result, and you'll have a much easier time booking your clients.
